AboutHere I code indiegames (independent games). I drink caffeine. Lot of debug also. |
⚠ story mode: posts are in chronological order! Pluging the wiresDay 088 Horizon Keepers Wednesday November 12, 2014 | Server is ready, basic transactions are ok... HK is now an online game!
On the C++ side it's a rather simple netsock class forging and dealing with TCP requests. Server side is PHP coded against a nosql database.
Anyway an improved version of my class compared to IUBES, in order to add capabilities and reinforcements for the predictable intensive usage to come!

MultiplayerDay 090 Horizon Keepers Sunday November 30, 2014 | My client/server protocole – the way each playing computer deals with the remote server – is now finalized. Encoding, serialization, dispatch... everything needed is there.
Exchange flow might be a little more compressed but that would be over optimization.
Last question awaiting response is the level of security needed for client-server requests. I don't know how much efforts usual cheaters will provide?
At this point each data flow carries hidden checksums, making any injection explosive. This should be discouraging enough... |
2015Day 103 Horizon Keepers Tuesday January 27, 2015 | Two months passed, will lot of things to do but HK. Those stop & go aren't really easy to deal with.
But things seem to be back on track... Welcome to 2015! I decided to restart with small tasks, like this slightly redesigned dock station.
I'm glad with the current visuals, even if this is far from what I was thinking when I first start: a minimalistic FPS-shoot'em'up.

One step moreDay 105 Horizon Keepers Monday February 2, 2015 | Multiplayer accuracy has been increased from 94.8 to 98.5% – each last percent is more and more difficult to obtain. In order to keep things consistent I must achieve something like 99.9%.
Not for a perfection cult, but simply because this tiny 0.1% still means 50 lost bullets on a ~5000 hits battle. Can’t deal with more than that. |
Welcome to HK!Day 113 Horizon Keepers Wednesday February 18, 2015 | Mandatory step: I'm now adding a tutorial...A very essential thing but rather boring to create. But essential. Still boring.
I'm also fixing a couple of details thanks to early beta testers who just have made a blink beta test. The "undock" button is much more visible now, nobody will be stuck again. My bad.
- Highscore table ready
- Azerty / Qwerty compatible

This boring thing…Day 120 Horizon Keepers Thursday February 26, 2015 | Localization completed. English & French available.
More tutorial events added and lot of small tasks...
- customisable control sensitivity
- better text rendering
- hints list during loading
- network fail management
